Lasagna Bolognese
Layered pasta dish with ground beef ragù, parmesan, and mozzarella cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 ⅛ lb ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 stalks celery
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- ⅞ lb canned crushed tomatoes
- ½ lb dried lasagna noodles
- ½ lb ricotta cheese
- ½ lb mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 10 leaves fresh basil leaves
- 3 cloves garlic cloves
- 1 italian bread
- 2 carrots
- 100g parmesan cheese, grated
Steps

Step 1
Chop 1 onion, 2 carrots, and 2 celery stalks. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped vegetables and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 2
Add 500g ground beef to the pot. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add 2 tbsp tomato paste to the pot. Cook for 1 minute. Add 400g crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let sauce simmer while you prepare the cheese mixture and lasagna noodles.

Cook 250g lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a bowl, combine 250g ricotta cheese, 100g grated parmesan cheese, and 1 egg. Season with salt and pepper.

Assemble the lasagna: spread a layer of ragù in the bottom of a baking dish, followed by a layer of noodles, then a layer of the ricotta mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat for 3 layers, finishing with a layer of mozzarella on top.

Bake the lasagna in a preheated oven at 375°F for 30-40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Meanwhile, slice 1 Italian bread loaf. Spread garlic butter on each slice (made by mixing softened butter with minced garlic cloves). Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until crispy.
